After studying International Business and following a well traced career path in marketing, I decided to take a drastic change of directions towards a more personal aspiration: painting.

At first, I turned to representational painting. I took my first painting and drawing lessons with the painter Serge Strosberg who taught me all about colours and freedom of choice. Later, I was guided by Rassoul Babbei who transmitted to me the rigour of drawing.

After several years of working with this technique, mostly on portraits and landscapes, I felt the need to discover new visual sensations, to experience other sensory perceptions and found myself radically changing artistic orientations.

My meeting with the Martinican painter Henri Guédon constituted a turning point, the beginning of this new artistic positioning. His influence marked me in more ways than one. For him, painting was above everything a source of pure pleasure and his Afro-Caribbean representations, in perpetual motion were just like his music: lively, deep.

 I worked with him during these last two years until his passing in February 2006. He bestowed upon me the way, so very personal, he had of bringing together matter and colour on the canvas.

Since then, I paint in a style where shapes and colours prevail over lines. My work enables me to free my interior energy; by superimposing materials and tint areas, I try to translate emotions. By the simplicity of the forms and the transparency of colours I aim to retranscribe the full force of that which is felt.

My artistic influences range from Modigliani - the sensuality of the forms, the melancholy of his portraits- to the Chinese painter Zao Wou-Ki - how incredibly striking to me was to discover the way in which his evocating landscapes take us in to his inner universe. And naturally, there are Pierre Soulages, Olivier Debré, Antonio Tapies, Nicolas de Staël …. all these artists who considered painting as a space of freedom and independence, a freedom which to me cannot be disassociated from any act of creation.
